Ruth Bader Ginsburg: An Icon for our Youth

Families, we lost a beautiful legend, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. As we mourn, let's share light and inspiration with our children and teens.

She served as an inspiration to so many when she supported women, justice, LGBTQ+ rights, marriage, and life.

Did you know that RBG was just one woman of nine women in her entire class at Harvard? Let me tell you, it's hard to feel different, and it's okay to stay firm and focused on where you want to go, who you are, and why you matter. If you don't act or look or feel like those around you, look to RBG, and feel strong. She overcame and inspired.

Did you know that RBG was the first female tenured professor at Colombia University? Dream big, darlings, and know that your dreams and goals can be accomplished through faith, perseverance, knowledge, and courage.

Did you know that RBG fought for women's equality all of her life? Wonderful youth, we're equal in the eyes of our Heavenly Father, and you are beautifully and wonderfully made. Respect one another. Cherish one another. Stand up for one another, and look to RBG. She did it, and so can you.

Did you know that RBG was only the second female Justice in history? Her words live on as an inspiration to all generations, and so will yours when your heart is filled with goodness and bravery. Shine your light, and follow your path.

Let's look to her words of wisdom, and reflect.

"Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time." - RBG

"My mother told me to be a lady. And for her, that meant be your own person, be independent." -RBG

"Women will have achieved true equality when men share with them the responsibility of bringing up the next generation." -RBG

"I tell law students... if you are going to be a lawyer and just practice your profession, you have a skill--- very much like a plumber. But if you want to be a true professional, you will do something outside yourself... something that makes life a little better for people less fortunate than you."

"So often in life, things that you regard as an impediment turn out to be great, good fortune." -RBG

Shine your light, darlings. You are unique. You are beautiful, and I love you.

Blessings,

Mrs. Evelyn
